PDM’s Statement on U.S. and ‘Israel’ War Against Iran
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Last night, the U.S. army heavily bombed multiple alleged nuclear sites across Iran. With these bombings, the United States has officially entered into Zionist war of aggression on Iran. In doing so, the Trump administration has shown its full commitment to escalating imperialist violence—not just against the Iranian people, but against the entire region. This is a dangerous signal of what’s to come with more destruction, more war, and more U.S.-Zionist efforts to crush resistance to empire across the Middle East.
What we’re witnessing is a continuation of a decades-long project—one where the U.S. and the Zionist settler-colonial state work hand-in-hand to dominate, destabilize, and divide the Middle East. From Gaza to Baghdad, Beirut to Sana’a, Damascus to Tehran, the goal is the same to break any and all opposition to Zionist expansion and American empire.
This is not about nuclear weapons. It never was. Just like Iraq in 2003, this is about dismantling resistance, forcing submission, and expanding colonial control. The U.S. and its colonial outpost in ‘Israel’ are trying to plunge us into another forever war
As Black Alliance for Peace notes, the international community’s failure to confront Israel’s crimes has enabled “its genocide in Palestine and its attacks on Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iran.” Different excuses are given for each war – “counter-terrorism,” “democracy,” “non-proliferation,” etc. – but the underlying agenda is the same. It is to extend U.S. and Zionist control over the region, and crush any nation or movement that dares resist their hegemony.
Let’s dispel the myth that this war is about Iranian “nuclear weapons.” There is zero evidence that Iran is building a nuclear bomb – a fact even the U.S. government’s own intelligence officials admit. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed no sign of any active Iranian nuclear weapons program. Iran has consistently stated it seeks nuclear energy, not bombs, and remains a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty with inspections of its facilities. Meanwhile, Israel has hundreds of nuclear warheads and has never signed the NPT – yet no one in America talks about bombing ‘Israel’s’ secret nuclear sites.
The truth is that the nuclear issue is a smokescreen for imperialist aims. War Criminal Netanyahu and his ministers have “zeroed in” on Iran’s nuclear program specifically to mask a campaign of regime change and regional domination. For years, Zionists has openly sought to bring down the Islamic Republic in Iran, expand ‘Israel’s’ alliances with corrupt Arab regimes, and crush Palestinian efforts for statehood once and for all. In other words, this is about destroying the centers of resistance. Iran is being attacked not because of nukes (which it doesn’t have), but because it refuses to bow to U.S.-Israeli diktat.
We’ve seen this playbook before. The U.S. and its accomplices are recycling the same Weapons of Mass Destruction lies they used to justify the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Back then it was false claims about Saddam’s chemical and nuclear weapons, today it’s false panic about Iranian nukes. They lied about WMDs then, they’re lying about “nukes” now. The goal is to topple any government that stands independent of U.S.-Israeli control.
Do not be fooled by claims that America is being “dragged into” this war. The United States is the chief orchestrator of this conflict. The Zionist attack on Iran did not happen in a vacuum or against U.S. wishes. In fact, it’s now clear that Trump green-lit this escalation from the start. The Zionist regime could never commit such crimes without U.S. approval and support at every step. The two operate as one imperial unit. Together they have become the most dangerous threat to peace in the world. We must treat the notion of American “innocence” or hesitancy in this war as the propaganda that it is.
In reality, Zionist war criminals are exploiting this to expand their colonial domination in the region and divert attention from their ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Since news broke out of ‘Israel’s’ attacks on Iran, the occupation has taken the opportunity to escalate violence against Palestinians in Gaza, with some of the most brutal massacres taking place in recent days. The U.S. government, by joining this war, is not only complicit in aggression against Iran – it is also empowering the Zionist genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people. In Gaza, the result of this aggression is nothing short of genocidal. The ongoing genocide in Gaza has now passed 600 days. In just the last two days alone, over 200 Palestinian men, women, and children have been killed under relentless bombardment. Millions more are being starved under an illegal Israeli blockade that has cut off food, water, and medicine to the population. The Zionist leadership hopes that a larger conflict will hide its crimes and allow it to expand its illegitimate control over Palestinian land and the broader region.
To people of conscience here in the U.S. and around the world – now is the time to mobilize. We must pour into the streets and stop this war. We call for emergency protests, campus strikes, teach-ins, divestment campaigns – every form of nonviolent resistance to U.S.-Zionist aggression.
As Muslims, we are inspired by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said “The best jihad is speaking a word of truth in front of a tyrannical ruler.” Indeed, to resist tyranny – whether by hand, tongue, or heart – is a duty for all who believe in justice. We remember his teaching, “Help your brother, whether he is oppressed or an oppressor,” meaning we must stand up to the oppressor and stop them from oppressing. We will not be swayed or silenced. We will stand firm against oppression no matter the cost. And with faith and solidarity, we will overcome the pharaohs of our time.
“O you who believe, stand firmly for justice, as witnesses to God.” (Qur’an 4:135)
In solidarity,
The Palestine Diaspora Movement
